CN8 Piercing Safety

On June 13, 2008 Ron Rotatori, owner of Primal Urge Body Piercing Salon in New Hope, Pa aired a documentary titled "Body Piercing Safety" on CN8. Within this documentary, Ron Rotatori explains the piercing process and the requirements needed to insure you receive a clean and safe piercing. In 1994, OSHA responded to the increase rate of Hepatitis transmission by establishing a set of regulations named the Bloodborne Pathogen Standards. The regulations require all individuals who have Potential Exposure to blood, body fluid and or body tissue to be in full compliance with these regulations. Unless the body piercing facility is in compliance with the Bloodborne Pathogens Standards they are exposing each of their clients to Hepatitis, TB and other Bloodborne Pathogens.

In 2001 the State of New Jersey's Health Department mandated regulations for the body piercing, ear piercing and other body arts. The mandated regulations, written by the Health Department, allow each body piercing facility to operate far below the standards set under Bloodborne Pathogens Standards. As a result everyone who is being pierced by a body piercing facility in New Jersey is being exposed to the potential transmission of Bloodborne Pathogens such as Hepatitis, TB and HIV. This health hazard, which is jeopardizing the health and safety of the public which the Health Department is sworn to protect.

The Fact is; a Body Piercer who has taken a 1 hour Bloodborne Pathogen Training Class does not have the knowledge or expertise to operate a body piercing facility in compliance with Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.

To protect your health and safety insists on seeing a report which shows that the Body Piercing Facility has been inspected by a OSHA Inspector and the facility has met all the requirements to be in full compliance with OSHA Regulations under Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.

Primal Urge has undergone several inspections by an OSHA inspector and offers documentation of this inspection to the public.
